What does IPL feel like?
The procedure is gentle, non-invasive, and safe. While everyone has a different tolerance, there is usually no need for a topical anesthetic. Should you feel discomfort, your treatment provider can provide you with a topical numbing cream for use on sensitive areas.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
During the initial consultation, our staff of medical and nursing professionals will advise you how to best prepare for treatment. You should stay out of direct sunlight or tanning beds and refrain from using medications that make you more sensitive to light.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will vary, and your treatment provider will personalize a treatment plan for you. With about 5 sessions to address vascular issues like redness and 3 sessions for brown spots or other pigmentation concerns, you can effortlessly reveal a glowing new you.
What can I expect after IPL?
Immediately after treatment, expect to see redness with mild swelling. Brown spots, age spots and freckles will turn 2-3 shades darker after treatment which will then flake off. Your skin may feel similar to a slight sunburn in the treated area. This should dissipate within hours but could last a day or two. Sun spots, age spots or broken blood vessels should begin to clear up in one to two weeks. You can expect to see brighter, healthier looking skin several days after treatment.
